Welcome to the 4th International Particle Minibeam Radiotherapy (PMBT) Workshop!
‍We are exited to invite you to the 4th International PMBT Workshop, taking place in Pisa from 28 to 30 April 2026. This exciting event represents a key moment in the advancement of Particle Minibeam Radiotherapy (PMBT), an innovative radiotherapy technique that is currently developing a great potential to improve cancer treatment outcomes.

Particle Minibeam Radiotherapy (PMBT)
Particle Minibeam Radiotherapy is an innovative approach based on the spatial fractionation of the particle beam into smaller "minibeams." These sub-mm beams, separated by narrow gaps, aim to deliver highly targeted treatment to cancer cells while significantly reducing the toxicity to surrounding healthy tissues. PMBT offers the promise of more precise, less toxic therapies for cancer patients.

The Workshop
Building on the success of the previous PMBT workshops, this event will be a stimulating opportunity for pushing PMBT research forward, fostering collaborations, and accelerating its path towards clinical use. Organized by the Centro Pisano for FLASH Radiotherapy - Centro per l'Integrazione della Strumentazione scientifica dell'Università di Pisa (CPFR@CISUP) and the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN), this workshop represents a unique opportunity to discuss the advances of minibeams with a multidisciplinary approach.

The workshop will focus on sharing the latest researches and exploring the challenges and solutions required to bring PMBT into clinical practice. Innovative minibeam production approaches, recent results on in vitro/vivo biological investigations as well as on new technologies developed for accurate dosimetry in the perspective of a clinical implementation of PMBT, will be discussed.  
Alongside scientific sessions, there will be time dedicated to interactive discussions and debate, including poster sessions. We will also be hosting social events, including a welcome cocktail, and a conference dinner in the Pisa city centre, providing plenty of opportunities for informal networking.
